Founded in 2002, Gateway School of English (GSE) has become one of Malta's best English language schools, preferring quality to quantity, combining academic excellence, the best possible facilities and equipment with an extraordinary commitment to individual attention.

Gateway School of English, fully accredited by the Ministry of Education and fully compliant with the regulations of the Ministry's EFL Monitoring Board, and the Gateway School Residence are owned and managed by Netz Educational Services Ltd., a company registered under Maltese law on the 27th of June, 2000.

The proud founders of the company are Mrs. Maria Sammut and Mr. Charles Sammut. The family work hands-on at the School and the Residence. They bring to their work the attention to detail and the dedication typical of the best traditions of European Mittelstand enterprise, to borrow the German term.

The company owns the School and its adjacent residential complex. The buildings are constructed on their own land and are wholly owned by them.

The family supervised the whole construction process from design and the laying of foundations to decoration, the acquisition of furniture, the recruitment of teachers, the development of courses and marketing. Today, they manage the day-to-day operations themselves. They dedicate themselves 24/7 to the School, the whole year round.

The Director of Studies, Mr. Roman Azzopardi, co-ordinates his work closely with the family, thus ensuring the highest standards of pedagogic professionalism with first-hand attention by the owners and the dedication typical of a family enterprise.

Gateway School of English is located in a quiet and elegant residential neighbourhood close to the vibrant St. Julian's Bay area. The location was carefully chosen from a shortlist of over ten other possible locations because of its ideal combination of desirable features: social quality of the neighbourhood, security and safety, low building density and closeness to green zones, accessibility from and proximity to important shopping and recreational centres. The building was specifically designed to ensure optimal conditions for effective learning. The School is a semi-detached two-level building comprising eight bright and spacious classrooms, as well as common areas and plenty of indoor and outdoor space for relaxation and recreation. Additionally, the adjacent school residence was designed to provide a comfortable and modern home for those students at GSE who choose to live as close as possible to the School.

Eight bright and spacious classrooms fully equipped with the latest information technology and video facilities. The teachers make full use of these and other resources to make the best use of the students time in the classroom.
A well stocked library with contemporary learning materials and media for practising and developing different language skills. The library has fiction - graded from beginner to proficiency - as well as exam practice materials and a broad range of additional grammar and vocabulary resources. In addition to computers for self-study, the Library contains DVDs, books, magazines, worksheets and specially selected listening materials. It is open before and after classes and professional assistance is available at all times.
A large courtyard and gardens where students can relax at break times and after classes.

Free 24/7 Wireless internet and internet-cabled computer workstations which enable students to keep in touch with their office, family and friends world wide are also available at the adjacent School's residence.

Both the School and its adjacent residential complex are completely and fully air-conditioned.

Gateway School of English offers a wide variety of courses at different levels of achievement, from beginners through to intermediate and up to advanced. Students can choose to study in a group or on an individual one-to-one basis.

At GSE the teachers aim to make learning as interesting and enjoyable as possible to help students get the most out of their time in Malta. Whether students are taking a group or one-to-one course, the teachers focus on the individual needs of each and every student in the classroom. There is a strong emphasis on communicative activities through which students are able to practice their English and engage in discussions with others. Importance is also given to language systems mainly focusing on lexis and pronunciation. Grammar is introduced in realistic contexts and students are given opportunities to manipulate the new language.

Gateway School of English believes that young and adult learners achieve better results in appropriate linguistic contexts and so their approach is based on interaction patterns of social and educational nature. Their commitment is to give the best training in the good use of English and so offer valuable opportunities for strengthening self-confidence.

Thanks to the Gateway School Residence, students wishing to live close to Gateway School of English are guaranteed excellent service, speed of access to the School (less than 30 metres from bedroom to classroom!) and the relaxation that goes with the absence of the hassle of having to travel to and from one's place of study.

The school residence is a fully detached structure built with beautiful Maltese limestone on three floors. It boasts 22 bedrooms (6 double rooms, 12 triple rooms and 4 quadruple rooms), 8 bathrooms, 4 TV lounges with cabled computer work-stations ensuring 24/7 fast-access broadband internet connection to the student's family, business and friends worldwide, a recreational area, and an in-house canteen or diner. Free WiFi is also available and accessible from all the bedrooms and common areas.

The Gateway School Residence is available on half board (breakfast & dinner) / full board (breakfast, lunch & dinner) and is surrounded by an open space, ideal for al fresco relaxation.

The residence is furnished with contemporary furniture and finishings. Students have their own desk, chair, wardrobe and locker. The residence provide bed linen and bath towels; bed linen are changed once a week and towels twice a week. Single rooms are available in the low season.
