The Strawberry Festival

From maltawiki.com

The strawberry festival (festa frawli) is an annual festival held in Mgarr on Malta island. The festival has been going for five years in 2011.

The festival, although mainly focused on strawberries, is also a celebration of Maltese folklore and tradition.

The Mgarr parish square fills with stalls with a myriad of products as well as freshly picked strawberries brought in directly from the fields by the farmers. Strawberries are served with the usual toppings of ice cream, chocolate, fresh cream, and milk as well as with modern dressings such as olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Of course, also strawberry based drinks are for sale, with smoothies, milk shakes and strawberry wine. Additionally, strawberry based pastry, cakes and fruit salads are prepared on site.
