Sailing is one of the most popular sports in Malta. Many choose to go together with friends or family and charter a sailing boat for a day, week or weekend. You can charter a boat with a skipper of without if you have the necessary qualifications. The islands have a variety of sailing clubs, marinas and beach facilities that offer sail boat rentals.

Windsurfing is not as popular on Malta as the conditions that the island offers should have made it. Since the island is surrounded by water there is almost always good conditions for windsurfing on one side of the island, especially during periods with more weather, such as spring and autumn. While waters on one side of the island can raise with waves of more than a metre, the water on the other side of the island can be as calm as on a quitet as a summer's night.

Being surrounded by water, diving is an obvious candidate for most popular sport on Malta. Because of the good temperature conditions in the sea during the winter period, diving can be done all year around. The temperature in the sea doesn't fall under 16 degrees even during winter time. Malta offers diving classes for divers on all levels of experience.

Sea Kayaking is gaining popularity in Malta both amongst the locals and tourists. It is the absoloute best way to experience the Maltese creeks and coastline.
